Remove the clear top cover of the G1 Plant Setup using a #2 Phillips screwdriver by hand to remove the four screws. Don’t you dare use a drill.
Connect the turned off Plant Setup to a Windows equipped laptop with the supplied charge/data cord.
Have the .zip file you have downloaded from this product page and extracted to three files.
For simplicity, open only Windows Explorer on the computer and nothing else. Cannot use a Apple laptop as this is a Microsoft based USB flashing format.
In order to trigger bootloader mode, the plant receiver needs to perform a full bootup after six interrupted bootups. The analogy I can provide you is cycling your car ignition without starting the engine. A interrupted bootup is a bootup terminated mid ghost animation. If you turn it off on the next screen that says BOO-T, too late. Start over, you were too slow.
Step 5 done correctly, the seventh bootup, if uninterrupted, a new drive show up in Windows Explorer called G1_BOOT on the next available drive letter
In this drive you will overwrite the three files with the three new files downloaded in the zip provided from this link..
File transfer takes no more than one second. Done right, it will perform all the necessary formatting changes to your memory.
Congratulate yourself. You’re a stud.
To put back the cover, make note it is directional. The inside of the clear cover has ridges that matches ridges on the inside of the nylon body. Ensure the seal is properly seated in the cover. Hand tighten, then utilize the following tool: https://www.mcmaster.com/2781N14/ with the torque set to 7.5 in-lbf with a #2 Phillips: https://www.mcmaster.com/5750A42/

2026-09-25: This code update, the first of 2026 for the G1 Plant Setup, modernizes the fault codes for hardware initialization. Also corrects reverts to legacy mode and long range mode.
